Individuals with no family or have lost mental capacity can now tap professionals to make decisions on their behalf for a fee

SINGAPORE — Individuals who have lost their mental capacity, or have no immediate family who can make decisions on their behalf, can now appoint professionals to perform this role for a fee — though there is no benchmark set currently. As of Friday (Sept 21), at least 13 professionals — ranging from chartered accountants to lawyers — have registered to render their services under the Professional Deputies and Donees (PDD) Scheme.
