ECONOMY DOING WELL, BUT UNEMPLOYMENT GOING UP IN SINGAPORE

I refer to the article “Unemployment rate at 3.1% as of June Employment rate continues to increase” (Channel NewsAsia, Nov 30). It states that “The seasonally adjusted resident unemployment rate rose from 3 per cent in June 2016 to 3.1 per cent in June this year, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) on Thursday (Nov 30).” Don’t you find the increase in the unemployment rate kind of weird, as it does not seem to gel with the recent rhetoric that the economy is growing
