82-year-old grandmother votes for the first time in US, dies days later

An 82-year-old woman in Texas, United States got to vote for the first time in her life for the midterm elections — she then died days later. Texas native Gracie Moffitt Philipps looked happy to have exercised her right to vote, as shown in a Facebook post on Thursday, Nov. 1. She was seen smiling while holding an “I Voted Today” pin. Philipps narrated her love story: that of a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl who fell in love and got married in 1951. The couple had seven children and a full life, but “no voting.”
